Update your bookmarks and blog readers--I'm moving

In an effort to unify all the random stuff I do, I've rolled my personal blogging under my (vanity) domain.

Point your favorites and feed aggregators to blog.j832.com.

See you on the other side!

This is a bit of a joke. I actually don't believe *anyone* is reading my personal blog.

If you are, drop me a note. I love crazy people.

    Science vs. Faith

Forgot where I found the link, but here's the source.

    Scary brilliant.

Would love to know what they're talking about...

    From here, via Digg.

Does this look like two guys that hate each other?

If only the perception of our companies wasn't (mostly) defined by marketers.

    No (singing) talent in Seattle

Well the Seattlest reports, no one can sing is Seattle.

American Idol passed through town and no one was impressed.

They did link to this guy. Watch the videos. Wow! I want to see his show.

2 tunnels and 2 phone calls

Tunnel 1 - Sound Transit Tunnel under Beacon Hill

    Via Metroblogging Seattle.

Flickr set of the tunnel under Beacan hell.

    Very cool.

Tunnel 2 - To burry the Viaduct

I lost track of where we are on the Viaduct thing. Sounds like we're going to vote on it. A new Viaduct is completely out of the question for me. Either we burry the thing or rip it down.

    Props to People's Waterfront Coalition.

    Phone calls

This is the United States Census Bureau calling. Please return our call at 1-888-817-2153. Please reference number XXXXXX.

Got this call twice. Not a clue.

    So I search for it.

    Ah! The American Community Survey.

    Here's the Wikipedia article.

Haven't called back yet. Not sure if I want to.

What's wrong with Senate bill #1?

On January 4, the S.1 was introduced to the floor of the US Senate by Sen. Harry Reid.

The title: Legislative Transparency and Accountability Act of 2007

How do I know this? I was reading some article in some right-wing news site posted on Digg. Something about Dobson saying he won't vote for McCain.

Aside: I really hope the most centrist Republican candidates get submarined by the bigots on the far right. Sweet justice.

Anyway, I see this link to Focuspetitions.com.

    I click.

A huge rant about how S.1 is great, but section 220 is the spawn of Satan.

Okay, given the source I'm a bit skeptical. I start searching around.

Something here. Not any real help, but I can't find much else.

The actual text of section 220 isn't all that clear, either.

What do I do now? I sent a note to my Senators (Cantwell and Murray) to see what they have to say. I'm hoping to hear back something rational. I hear screaming, but I really don't trust the screamer.

Hoping for some light to get shed soon.

I'm going to rename my blog...

To "Dude, check out this episode of the show with Ze Frank."

The man is freakin' insanely funny.

    The Stranger - F*cking Funny

Yes, I dropped the F-bomb. I'm talking about The Stranger. It's f*cking required!

First, from the SLOG: Turn Offs: Condescending Liberals. (This is for you, Eric.) Great analysis. Crazy liberals are only slightly less infuriating that crazy conservatives.

Second, The Runs - A look at the 2008 presidential race. Read it. Just go to the bathroom first. OH. MY. GOD.

Aside: I'm f*cking pissed. Live Spaces won't let me post anything with f*cking profanity. Sofa king stupid!

    14/48 - The World's Quickest Theater Festival

I went to 14/48 this twice last weekend (not sure if I'll have a chance this weekend).

The first night was good, but a bit too dark. The second night was amazing.

Shamelessly stolen from The Stranger: 14/48 is the hit-and-run theater festival that's all about the numbers: In the span of 48 hours, seven playwrights, seven directors, seven designers, seven musicians, and 35 actors will conceive, write, design, score, rehearse, and perform 14 plays. Tonight kicks off weekend number two, and fans of rollicking pressure-cooker theater—where "the experience" is as valuable as the art—shouldn't miss it.

    Ze on Consciousness

In a 2-part set, the show gets deep on the nature of consciousness. Interesting.

    Deep.

    Carl Sagan on evolution

Via Digg. Video of Carl Sagon talking about evolution. Brilliant.

Update: I can't spell. Lucky for me my friends can. Thanks, Eric.

    Brilliant documentary with Richard Dawkins

    Via Boing Boing [link].

Via Take a Swig of Alf [link].

A two part series done for the BBC.

Part 1 - The God Delusion

Part 2 - The Virus of Faith

Editorial: it's very obvious that Richard is excited by his topic, especially when talking those he disagrees with. I cringe at times knowing he's being less than effective with his line of questioning. I certainly understand his outrage.

    Snow and Consensual Sex

Went to Crystal today. What a great way to start the snowboarding season...on Dec 2! It's clear I need to hack on my leg strength and cardio. Sounds like a good project for December.

And at the risk of being a bit racy on my blog, this is just too funny not to share.

    CONSENT

A short film. Insanely funny and quite intelligent.

As a bonus, a freely available Sexual Consent Form.

As my 4th-grade sex-ed teacher said: play safe and have fun.

IRV push coming to King County

    Interesting article in Seattle Weekly.

I'd love to see IRV get more traction. It would be cool if it happened here. Where can I sign up?

Check out FairVote for more info on IRV.

    More from Richard Dawkins

I posted on Atheism a month ago.

Here's Dr. Dawkins again, speaking on his new book, The God Delusion.

Part 1 - Reading sections of his book.
Part 2 - Answering questions from the audience. (Brilliant and hilarious.)
